Molded Fiber Tube Trays Designed for Secure Product Positioning

Molded fiber tube trays are designed to hold cylindrical products in defined cavities during packing, storage, transport or display. THECA develops the cavity diameter, depth, spacing and removal features around the actual tube dimensions and packing process. The tray can be configured to separate products, reduce contact between adjacent tubes and maintain a consistent orientation inside a carton or display format.

Applications may include industrial tubes, cosmetic or personal-care tubes, cartridges and other compatible cylindrical products. Product fit must be assessed using the cap or body dimension that controls seating in the cavity. Material, surface, moisture exposure and direct-contact requirements are reviewed separately.

Final performance and pack quantity are confirmed through prototypes and application-specific trials.

Applications

This solution can be evaluated for:

  • Industrial and technical tubes
  • Cosmetic and personal-care tubes
  • Cartridges and compatible cylindrical components
  • Tube transport and secondary packaging
  • Retail or presentation trays
  • Manual or automated loading applications

Technical and Operational Benefits

Individual Cavity Support

Each tube can be assigned a defined position, helping reduce product-to-product contact and movement within the secondary pack.

Carton-Space Planning

Cavity spacing and overall tray dimensions can be developed around the available carton footprint and required product count.

Repeatable Orientation

A consistent cavity layout supports organized loading, counting, presentation and removal at the next process step.

Nestable Empty Trays

The geometry may be designed for nesting to reduce empty-pack storage and inbound packaging volume, subject to product and denesting requirements.

Customization Options

The project brief should define:

  • Tube body or cap diameter
  • Tube length and weight
  • Number of tubes per tray
  • Cavity depth and spacing
  • Vertical, angled or horizontal orientation
  • Finger-access and removal features
  • Carton or display dimensions
  • Manual or automated loading requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tube dimension should be used for the cavity?

Use the product feature that actually seats in the tray. This may be the cap, shoulder or body diameter. A physical sample or controlled drawing is recommended because nominal tube diameter alone may not define the correct fit.

Can different tube sizes share one tray?

Potentially, if the cavity layout is intentionally designed for the different dimensions and the products remain secure. A universal cavity should not be assumed without a fit trial.

Can the trays be stacked or nested?

They may be designed to nest when empty and stack in a defined pack-out, but both requirements affect cavity and rim geometry. The desired workflow must be stated at the start of design.

Can a tube tray be used for retail display?

Yes, where product presentation, orientation and surface requirements are compatible. Display use should be included in the brief so that visibility and removal can be considered.

What tests are recommended?

Check product seating, removal force, tray dimensions, carton fit, vibration or transport exposure, stacking and operator handling using the actual products and secondary packaging.

Request a Tube Tray Fit Assessment

Send the tube and cap dimensions, product weight, quantity per tray, carton dimensions, orientation and current packaging photos. We will review the required cavity layout.
