RollPack Molded Pulp Roll Cradles for Safer Roll Handling
RollPack molded pulp roll cradles are designed to stabilize cylindrical products during palletizing, storage and transport. The curved support geometry holds each roll in a defined position and can help create a more consistent layered pallet arrangement than improvised blocks or pyramidal stacking.
THECA evaluates roll diameter, width, weight, rolls per layer, pallet dimensions and the current securing method before recommending a RollPack configuration. Solutions can be developed for paper, film, foil, textile and other roll-based products, subject to application testing.
The fiber-based cradles can be nested for storage and configured around the required cavity count and pallet layout. Final load capacity, stacking configuration and transport performance must be confirmed using the customer’s actual roll and pallet conditions.

Applications
This solution can be evaluated for:
- Paper and board rolls
- Plastic film and flexible packaging rolls
- Foil and laminated material rolls
- Textile and nonwoven rolls
- Carpet or other cylindrical products where technically suitable
- Warehouse storage and palletized export shipments

Technical and Operational Benefits
Defined Roll Positioning
The curved cavities support rolls at repeatable positions, helping reduce lateral movement and making the pallet arrangement easier to reproduce.
Simpler Packing Workflow
A purpose-designed cradle can reduce dependence on improvised securing components and support a clearer layer-by-layer packing sequence.
Pallet Layout Optimization
Cavity count and spacing can be evaluated against the pallet footprint and roll dimensions. Any capacity improvement must be calculated for the customer’s real configuration.
Nestable Storage
Molded fiber components can be designed to nest, helping reduce the storage volume required for empty packaging compared with some rigid alternatives.
Customization Options
The project brief should define:
- Roll diameter and roll width
- Individual roll weight and total layer load
- Number of rolls per layer
- Pallet length, width and load height
- Cavity count and cradle length
- Bottom, intermediate and top-layer configuration
- Current wood, EPS, plastic or cardboard securing method
Manual or automated handling requirements

From Requirement to Series Production
1. Roll and Pallet Analysis
THECA reviews roll dimensions, weight, pallet layout, photos and current transport problems.
2. Configuration and Prototype
A suitable cavity layout and cradle geometry are developed for the target stacking arrangement.
Learn about THECA technology and product development.
3. Pallet Trial and Validation
The customer tests product seating, packing sequence, layer stability and shipment performance with the actual rolls.
Review certificates and analysis reports.
4. Series Supply
After approval, production and delivery quantities are planned against the customer’s packaging operation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What products can be packed with molded pulp roll cradles?
Roll cradles can be evaluated for paper, film, foil, textile, nonwoven and other cylindrical products. Suitability depends on roll diameter, width, weight, surface sensitivity, pallet layout and distribution conditions.
Which measurements are required for a RollPack assessment?
Provide roll diameter, roll width, individual roll weight, pallet dimensions, rolls per layer, total layers, current securing components and clear photographs of the roll and pallet arrangement.
Can RollPack increase the number of rolls on a pallet?
It may enable a more organized layout, but the result is application-specific. THECA must compare the current and proposed arrangements using actual roll dimensions, pallet constraints, load limits and safe handling requirements before making a capacity claim.
Can the same cradle be used for different roll sizes?
Only when the diameter, load and fit range have been technically evaluated. A cradle designed for one roll may not safely support another diameter or weight without confirmation.
How should a RollPack system be validated?
Complete a controlled pallet trial using the real rolls, layer arrangement, wrapping or strapping method, handling equipment and planned transport conditions. Acceptance criteria should cover fit, stability, handling and post-shipment condition.
Are RollPack cradles recyclable?
They are fiber-based and designed for paper-recycling streams where local collection and recycling systems accept the material. Any coating, contamination or local waste requirement should be reviewed for the destination market.
Request a RollPack Application Assessment
Share the roll diameter, width, weight, pallet dimensions, rolls per layer, current securing method and a product or pallet photo. We will evaluate the most suitable next step.
